Victoria United returned to training on Monday just a day after losing 1-0 to FC Samartez in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

The players were put through their paces at the club’s training ground less than 24 hours after playing in Douala.

Samartex had their noses Infront in the 48th minute when striker Emmanuel Mamah headed in from a corner to secure an away victory at the Japoma Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It was the only noteworthy chance for the visitors as Opopo dominated proceedings but were guilty of bad misses. Samartez held their nerves to secure their first win in the CAF Interclub competition.

The visitors now hold the bragging rights going into the return fixture on Sunday, August 25, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The winner of both legs will progress to the second preliminary round where they will face either ASGNN of Niger or Raja Club Athletic for a place in the group stages.
